Hi,

I have a Elson hot water tank that is 20 years old and needs replacing. It’s on economy 7 and heats up during the night for cheaper rates.

Has anyone replaced or found an alternative for hot water?

We don’t need it for heating, this is just for water and has to be electric as we have no gas supply.

Cheers!

Is there something wrong with fitting a new hot water tank and immersion heater or have I misunderstood the question?

Also, what's actually wrong with the existing heater other than being 20 years old?

Usually a small unvented direct heated cylinder eg; https://www.screwfix.com/c/heating-plumbing/unvent...

or a like for like replacement eg:

Seeing if there’s anything more efficient or better technology that someone has installed.

The hot water tank is rusting and has a slow leak!

Cheers

You won't get anything more efficient unless you could use a heat pump, which isn't easy in a flat. Electric is near enough 100% efficient, its just expensive per unit used.
