External Wooden Window Paint - Dulux or Zinsser?
Discussion
Planning the external painting of my sash windows.
There are a lot of them so the main objective is durability and then secondary price.
Should I go Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin or Dulux Weathershield Satin. Colour will be white.
Lots of prep (sanding) and peel stop will be applied before starting the painting.
Also if you are choosing Dulux - what undercoat?

I used to have 23 multi pane sash windows to paint every 3 years in an exposed location and always used Dulux Weathershield trade (with the high VOC undercoat) and it provided excellent service but as always prep was absolutely everything.
I always used Dulux primer on bare or softened wood (the clear blue stuff) and aluminium primer on the areas where paint had peeled but the wood was dry.
Ensuring the underlying wood was completely dry was critical which often had me waiting for a prolonged period of warm dry weather after initial prep before priming - here in Cumbria that was a hit and miss affair!
Have since moved to a new build with factory finished wooden windows and what a joy it is to know I can forget them for at least 10 years.
