Staining on new brickwork

Hello folks

Just had our driveway done with lots of retaining walls. Ended up with lots of this staining everywhere - any ideas why and whether it can be resolved please?

Washing with "Brick Acid" may help available at Wickes, but follow the instructions on use.

I've only ever seen that effect on Furness bricks - where did they come from?

Don’t use brick acid.

If you want a pro to have a look at it,get in touch with Pureseal and they will put it out to their approved applicators.

Pureseal do chemicals for exterior cleaning,they do sell direct but not the full product line or professional strength chemicals.

Why not brick acid? Id rather have a go myself than pay someone.

The walls were done in stages around the rain so I wonder if that's to blame

It's an impurity in the brick, I would refer it back to the supplier.

As said I've only ever seen this happen in bricks by the Furness brick Co, Kirkby in Furness

Assuming the things aren't leaking diesel I'd assume it's something biological growing on whatever minerals have leached out?

Scrub with a bit of diluted bleach might be all it needs.
