At the previous house I painted the fascia's of a couple of sheds with a generic brown paint. Rather than just being a water based stain it was, I'm sure, not water based and left a pleasant, light sheen and walnut sort of colour. Wanting to achieve the same again but can't recall what the paint was. Whether it was a Ronseal product or someone like Sadolin.

Just wondering if anyone recognises it.

Sikkens Cetol or Sadolin - Lovely to use and seem to be a cut above the rest that do what it says on the tin.

Could well be Cuprinol ducks back.

I’ve had some on a shed for 8 years and the finish is still perfect.

I've been using sadolin extra durable woodstain rosewood, oil based.

Covers well, easy to use.

Ive been using Sadolin extra durable stain too, on our shed and fences. After a few attempts with water based stuff that seemed to last 12-24 months at best, the Sadolin was a revelation and actually stays on and looks great. Some of the most exposed timber needed another coat after 5 years, but other areas have gone 7-8 years so far and still look fine. Its expensive but the labour saving is worth it smile

I reckon that too….
They are decent for a few years, although they are water based & need re-doing maybe every 4-5 to keep looking good.

Strange, because I've used that, despite plenty of god reviews, and found it to be awful.

The grey on the sheds was the Cuprinol. It's basically a paint. The brown used on the fascias definitely wasn't. My suspicion is that it was the Ronseal stain.

It might be this, its really good and has a sheen. They used to have it in oil based, but not sure if they still do it.

Off topic I know but the thin water based Garden Shades do not last long. I have to do my fences every year. Mainly because it's a light colour so perhaps shows up degradation more than the darker colours. I reckon there'd be no paint left on the fence if I left it 5 years!

I think it's a paint that is hugely susceptible to the wood it is painted over. I high pressure hosed the sheds prior to painting them and the paint was still mint 5 years later but I've seen it wash off fencing inside a few years.

The link to the paint i put on is brilliant. When I used to do 5 year term contracts painting for a housing association. The paint was still looking good.

I had my old shed and wooden facias painted in Sadolin Supadec - it was superb. Gave at least 5-8 years before any degredation, self priming and very easy to apply. Happily buy it again.
