Smart meter - can I get a meter reading online?

Hi,

I’m trying to complete a switch of the electricity supply for a family members house where I remotely manage all the bills on their behalf.

The house has a smart meter. The current supplier is EON. The new “to be” provider is BG who have asked for a meter reading as part of the switch (seems odd given they seemed to recognise the property has a smart meter).

I thought I would be able to find a meter reading online (albeit a day or two in arrears) via the EON app but I can’t see it.

So does anyone know if this is possible? Maybe via some other route, or will I have to go round to physically take a reading from the smart meter?

If you try and manually submit a meter reading in the Eon app, does it suggest the latest smart meter reading? Scottish power app works like that, only way I know to make it give the actual reading as opposed to daily usage.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately the eon app doesn’t show anything helpful when trying to submit a manual reading.

I had a similar issue with Outfox Energy for my mothers flat, in the end I called them, used the number to pretend I couldn't afford to pay so got straight through without waiting and got it sorted.
