New fence height

As per my other thread I’m removing 70feet of Leylandi hedge and having a fence installed.

Were a corner plot on a quiet residential street, I’ve had 2 quotes for a 6 foot height and 6 foot 6 height, looking online as I understand it because I’m on the corner and there’s a pavement then the maximum permitted under planning is 1m??, I plan to have the fence finish as it’s gets to the side of my house, I then have a 3 foot wall where it circles round to the front driveway giving good line of sight to the roads for pedestrians, looking around my area all the other corner plots have done the same, but at the same time I don’t want to fork out £3.8k just to be told to take it down, not to mention there’s currently a 12ft-14ft hedge!

You're allowed 2m high in the back garden, 1m high in the front, anything else requires planning

Probably why the hedge is there, nothing gets done about an over height hedge but put up a 2m fence in the wrong place and you may have the planners on your back.

We live on a corner plot in our street. We have a large hedge all the way around. Well over 2m. House on the opposite corner put up a 6ft high fence at great expense and were made to take it down. To my knowledge no neighbours had complained about it.

I'd stick with a hedge.

I ve just had a drive around me, virtually every house either on a corner or adjacent a pavement has a 6 foot fence.

The hedge has to go due to proximity to an extension

Think I might rule out the 6ft 6
