Solar/wind charge controller wiring in
Discussion
Good afternoon all, I have an issue with a friend of mine's electrical system for his off-grid barn.
He currently has a couple of solar panels/batteries to supply 12v for various lights around his barn etc.
He has been suffering with capacity after increasing his lights to suit changes in layout and has bought a wind/solar charge controller and turbine to add some more capacity.
Unfortunately (in his ignorance of the difference) he has bought one of these.

It has a 3-phase input from the turbine but his turbine is only single phase.
My question is do I need to convert one to the other or just connect the one phase I have?
I appreciate only the manufacturer may be able to answer this but just wondering if anyone out there in PH land can help while I find out more.

I don't know that exact regulator, but I have an older one which would be fine on a single phase turbine, the input is just a rectifier.
It may matter which of the three wires you don't use, the regulator might be checking the frequency to sense over speed and activate the dump resistor?

TBH while he is looking for/trying to get a manual/installation instruction set, I am googling around & it appears you may well be correct.
It seems that the outputs are rectified and the UVW (which would normally be 3-phase inputs) are just "place-markers" for the connections, but I will keep looking for the moment.
Thanks for your sharing your experience.
