We have an old V6 dyson, used sporadically for utility (dog & boot) room plus cars and stuff.
I replaced the battery 3 yrs ago with a no brand jobbie for about £30, it's failed already, Dyson batteries are circa £80 which I'm reluctant to pay.

Anyone had any luck with cheapo batteries or is 3 yrs par for course?

If you've got any cordless power tools, then get an adaptor to use those batteries.

They'll be much higher quality anyway.

This is what I did for my V6, I bought the adaptor for my Makita batteries and never looked back.

I've changed the vacuum now, but the adaptor's still lurking around!

I had this issue
I bought a full vac off amazon for about sixty quid
It’s been excellent
All brand new. Very powerful nice to use
I wouldn’t faff around with different batteries

I think for the cost of a battery it's worth keeping the Dyson.
