Evening All,

I've noticed that the lowest hinge on our front door has split along it's length :

I've found what appears to be a direct replacement - costs about £10, which doesn't give me confidence as to it's longevity :

My query is this - is there a (much) better quality hinge, that could be a direct replacement - fits in the same way ?

To be fair, the hinge has been on the door for 20 years, but I'm still surprised it's failed in the way it has.

Had this hinge been stainless steel, it surely wouldn't have failed like this ?

I would just buy the one you picture. The old one seems to have been compromised by the extra holes. Like you I have never had a hinge break like that on either modern or old doors.
