USB plug end and hole to the outside of property conundrum
Discussion
Rather than drilling an 16mm hole to feed a USB plug end through a wall, or for a large external power socket is there a logical way to either utilise a much smaller hole or find an outdoor USB adaptor that can be wired?
I kind of assumed there would be solution such as a usb to mains adaptor in a weatherproof tube etc given that the need to feed a outside USB powered device to an indoor power source can't be that uncommon?

Use USB A to C adapters and heat shrink (if the join ends up outside) the plug and socket, fits through a 10mm or so hole.
Or do you mean one on these things? Which I suggest you fuse at one amp or less https://www.amazon.co.uk/Converters-Output-Multifu...

USB is only 'qualified' to quite short cable lengths, so not really relevant to outdoors.
In reality, you can cut and join the cable.
There are transceivers to various serial protocols to drive long cables etc.
A different connector like Apple lightning will go through a smaller hole, then you can adapt back to USB?

Perhaps you can use POE via a LAN cable?
Network cables are better for this kind of thing with Power-over-Ethernet. You can carry power much further than USB, and also it's fairly easy to run the cable through a small hole and crimp the connector on the other side.
Can you get a network cable to cover the majority of the distance using Power-over-Ethernet, and then stick a POE to USB adapter on the end?
Edit: Oh, beaten to it

It's an external KASA camera with around 4m of integrated cable but a USB plug at the end that would require a large hole to pass through. Perhaps you can use POE via a LAN cable?
I could run the cable through the eaves to the roof void but there is no power in that void. There is power for lighting on the outside nearby that's always live and various points where there is wall power on the inside.

Yes but that's the solution I'm seeking to avoid along with drilling a large hole. It's how I've powered the front cameras but the sockets are hidden and at the rear it would be on view. Rough101 said:

That's what I'm looking for but was hoping there was a pre existing weatherproof option but worst case scenario it could all be placed in a small outdoor junction box along with the excess camera wire. For just power, you could consider some sort of 12V to USB adaptor.
Avoids mains outdoors.
Less loss in the cable at 12V and within reason the loss doesn't matter as the adaptor will still deliver 5V.
You can distribute the 12V with thin bellwire or similar which is easy to hide and cheap.
I can't recommend a particular 12V to USB 5V converter as the two on my boat have died!
I use a generic DC/Dc step down converter.

If it's just for power presumably the cable is just 2 cores so you could cut it to pass through the wall in a small hole and reconnect inside?Or would something like this fit inside the external light?
