A guy local to me took on the planners when he built 2 dormers on the front of his house without permission, whilst they were taking enforcement action against him he decided to put a shipping container on his tiny front garden. The council didn’t back down and the dormers were removed by council appointed contractors, then they took action against him for the container. Whilst that was ongoing he died of a heart attack.

we have a local who got PP for a barn conversion and extension

the barn "fell down" end of things, no way would he get PP to build in the middle of nowhere,
a few years later its stll a vacant site,
