It's dying, is about 20 ft long and similar high.

I'd like something low maintenance, it gets plenty of sun until lunchtime, then in shade from the surrounding foliate

Ahh I see it, caterpillars been at it? dig it out.
More of a bush than a hedge but if you want the same look Japanese holly is good. personally I'd stick some a nice hydrangea there.

We have avoided the box problems by planting a honeysuckle - Lonicera. Seems to like west wales.
