Which Tupperware?

Any recommendations for Tupperware storage?

Like others I assume, we have a kitchen cupboard that's full of miss match Tupperware, all different makes and sizes that we have amassed over time. Can never fid the correct lid and when you open the cupboard usually something falls out as non of the tubs store inside each other very well.

I want to chuck it all and start again.

Ikea's stuff is pretty good to be honest. You can pick up a mix of glass and plastic tubs, with standardised lid sizes too so that makes things easier when you're rooting around in the cupboard.

No solutions here, but some experience: I tried to sort this out a few years ago: bought a lot of Lock&Lock, which takes a few common lid sizes. But the ones I chose don't nest for storage, which is annoying. They are very good quality tubs though, and last forever, and are the ones we reach for.

It worked pretty well. But we still seem to have a large drawer which doesn't close easily. The Ikea plastic sets seem to survive forever from early days. And there seem to be some of those Chinese takeaway tubs which persist. Maybe the answer is to buy a pack of 50 of those online?

Sistema Brillance - there are only three sizes but they are properly leak proof. I use one for my daily lunchbox and it still looks pretty much like new after several years of use.

Sistema's normal stuff is pretty good too.

Nipped into IKEA on my way hem from work today and bought a selection of their 365+ Tupperware. Took them home and emptied the cupboard of our previous Tupperware which was a real miss mash of brands, making finding lids difficult. I've now got a cupboard full of the same branded products which is nice. I like that they also sell glass storage that accepts the same lids.

Another vote for sistema here too, leads dont seem to warp either like the cheapies do when going through the dishwasher.

So we're the only ones where it call came from the local Chinese takeaway?

It has the benefit that the lids all fit

You're not alone, but this theory only holds if its all from the same takeaway. The curry house's lids don't play nicely with the chinese takeaway's tubs

My local Chinese use Satco brand. Like those, quality!
Any other takeaway ones go in the bin, to avoid the lid puzzle.

Still have a lot of original Tupperware, my wife used to sell the stuff in the last century. Lasts forever.

Smaller ones fit inside the larger ones. Borosilicate Glass (Pyrex) for cooking use.

Leads me to ask whether you should avoid heating up the plastic ones in the microwave or it's not a problem

This! We do the same. Cheap, stackable and can be lost with impunity. We bought a pack of 40. The most important thing is (as the other post says) don't mix and match brands. You end up with lid issues.

Not the greatest of ideas, glass is better and stainless steel containers designed for microwave use do not absorb food taint ot leach chemicals from the plastic when heated.
