1m x1m shower tray door

Hi all,

I'm in the middle of fitting an ensuite and I'm really struggling to find a decent shower door for a 1000 × 1000 mm shower tray.

It seems like such a common tray size, but most of the doors I've looked at either feel a bit flimsy or don't look particularly well made. I'm after something that feels solid and sturdy, while still looking good.

Can anyone recommend a shower door or a particular brand they've had a good experience with? I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

What type of door are you looking for? Sliding, full width hinged door, flush fitting hinged with a side panel, silver, black, crickle style etc?

Do you need a door at that size? I’ve an 1100x1100 and the floor gets just a few splashes, gets wetter from your feet.

The door at 1000 will be to big. You you make it up out of a more reasonable size and a closure panel.

fairly unusual size in my view - very large for a square tray.

Here are some photos.

The room width is actually 990mm. Obviously if I went smaller I am going to then need to build the wall out for the smaller width shower tray.
A wet room won't work with the door being so close so I need a screen or something. Against the wall as you walk into the ensuite will have to be the sink so the opening needs to be closest to he door I expect.

You can use thicker glass and brackets from somewhere like fh Brundle. im sure we had a door of similar size a few years ago. it was certainly close to that and iirc was either 12 or 15mm.

Theres plenty of glass places who can drill the glass to accept whatever it is you need.

Any bi-fold style doors available?
That might also solve restrictions on the arc the door needs to open.

I was going to ask can you actually get a 990mm tray but my first question is where is the first fix plumbing....?

So first fix is behind the plasterboard. I have hot and cold feeds for a recessed mixer on the left of the shower with a ceiling mounted shower head. Shower waste will be cut in when I know the shower tray I am getting.

Regarding fitting a 1000mm shower tray, the walls are actually 990 from left to right. So a bit tight for a 1000mm tray.. I am going to over hand the plaster board by 5mm each side of the tray to allow it to fit. Then seal it.

That's the plan anyway.

Problem with bifold doors they seem so wobbly.

We have a similar space restriction, and have two smaller glass doors with a magnetic seal between them.
Much more sturdy than one big door.

Merlyn do infold, bifold....and they aren't wobbly (but they are priced to reflect that).

+1 for Merlyn. They’re all I fit now unless the room needs an ultra swanky design. Even their budget range is good. Customer service and parts availability for old designs also good.
