How to quieten door slamming?
Discussion
I'm in the process of refurbing my property. Part of that is installing new doors. I've got one door fitted, but it rattles. The stops are spaced from the door with a 1mm gap. There's nothing that can be adjusted to eliminate this rattle as the play is all within the lock/latch body. The only thing that eliminates the rattle is butting the stops up to the door, but then it makes a slamming noise when you close the door as it now hits the stops.
I'm thinking that the best solution would be to install a gasket or some kind of compressible strip around the perimeter or the door. Weatherstripping sounds perfect for this, but I get the feeling that it will look like an afterthought.

I've already spent good money on decent hinges and there's no changing that now.
Out of curiosity, how would rising hinges prevent noise from the door hitting the stops?
Sorry, thought you were bothered about the rattling. You need a concealed Door Closer for internal doors with a soft close ability like this. Goes in the hinge side of the door. Out of curiosity, how would rising hinges prevent noise from the door hitting the stops?

That's exactly what I've done.
If you put them right at the top and bottom of the frame, they're really not noticeable unless you're looking for them. The door is sitll going to make a noise as it slams, but appreciably less than wood on wood contact.

If it’s closed but rattling the stops, you can adjust the latch by a 1mm or so, I'm thinking that the best solution would be to install a gasket or some kind of compressible strip around the perimeter or the door.
