Air vent in solid stone wall?

We’ve put an extension on the house, and an external stone wall has become an internal wall.
The house was extended in 2000 (long before we moved here), and the builder was very liberal with air vents in all the external walls (no trickle vents in the windows).
I’m intrigued by an air vents in a stone wall, I’ve pulled off the terminal and there is a draft through it, any ideas on its purpose and where it’s likely to be connected to, there aren’t any obvious air bricks.

Do you have a suspended floor? It may be for a fireplace but ducted under the floor to bring in fresh air for a fire place elsewhere in the room. Some older properties had vents hidden in ceiling roses that were ducted to the outside for the same purpose. No sign on the outside of a vent ever been there or a chimney stack in line with it?

Personally I'd get a torch and an inspection camera, you'll normally work out pretty quickly where it's connected to.

There should be a chimney stack above if so, or at least signs of one being removed and slated over.

The house didn't originally have ducted warm air heating did it? The panel looks about the right size. (Although why the duct would be on an outside wall is beyond me!)
