Black tyre residue on driveway.
Discussion
Hello folks
New one here. Driveway was laid in winter and was fine first few months. Not sure if it’s the warmer weather but now we have this horrible black residue on the blocks which comes into the house on to our very light flooring. Grrr
I did jet wash it all off about two months ago and that was fine for a day but the residue clearly started building up again very soon after
What to do?
The tyres are nothing special. Hankook 19 inch on my Tesla
Do I need the “seal” the blocks in some way or something?
No sealing was done at time of laying blocks

That looks like the paving being heated by the sun and then abrading your tyres. It should get better as the surface of the blocks wears a bit smoother with time/use. Not sure much can be done about it. Not turning the steering wheel when stationary may help. And guessing it happens more when you come home than in the mornings? Both the tyres will be heated by use and the blocks will heated by the sunshine and high temps.

They still have brakes with brake pads, and they still generate dust. Just less.
I recall Porsche saying that 90% of braking on the Taycan is done by the motor, not the breaks. I d bet that the Tesla is similar - brake dust is therefore likely to be minimal.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
