Anyone able to indicate if the quote I've had to replace our house front windows with double glazing is reasonable, as I have no knowledge of prices these days. I'm in South Yorkshire. Quote is from a well regarded local company that have been in business for years, I see them doing lots of installs and I've only ever heard good things about them, they are my preferred choice.

The quote is to replicate our existing windows with leaded glass, and coloured glass in the top lights

1 x Downstairs bay - two bottom & two top openers
1 x Upstairs bay - two bottom & two top openers
1 x Upstairs bay (small) - one bottom & one top opener

Scaffolding needed for the upstairs windows
(door not included)

I'd say they've built a hell of a lot of margin into that to allow for complications.

13 near identical size frames going into existing openings where they wont be replacing the headers or cills, just reinforcing bars (some skip these which isnt a great idea).

Sounds like a lot to me but its some time since I did any large (or even small) bays.

You need at least another quote to compare.

Its not directly relevant but as an idea of part of the cost, a single sealed unit the size of the bottom panel on each frame is about 35 quid in plain glass.

Why scaffolding, whenever we've had windows replaced or neighbours they have always done them from inside.
