DIY air Hockey refurbishment

Looking for a few ideas ,

after a holiday where the resort had a professional air hockey machine , couldnt get the lad off it , it had a stainless steel top and powerful motors

On returning home , looked on ebay etc,, pro machines , out of the question around £7k , for around £2,5k you can buy a 7' table with stainless steel top with twin motors , still a bit out of budget

WE eventually bought a 7' fully working second hand strikeworth for £180



it has a single motor , which works fine but its really not very smooth ,

I was looking at upgrades I can buy a second blower motor and reposition on both sides to improve the air flow , but id really like to upgrade to a stainless steel deck , has anyone done this ?
either by purchasing the precut steel from a air hockey manufacturer size 1940 x 1030 ....
Bufalo make a 7'stainless steel table , which may be an option
, or a supplier of 3mm sheet 316 stainless steel with a mirrored finish

im pretty good at DIY and have the tools to cut the steel to size / drill holes etc.

Stainless steel is a bit of a pig to drill, particularly in smaller sizes. I would be making enquiries about getting the holes made on a CNC fibre laser machine. Get them to do a few sample first before investing in a big sheet though.
