The lead flashing panels over my garage are walking out.
Looks like the person who did it didn't put the wedges well in.

It's sloped but it's not high. So, I am thinking to go up there and re-do all 5 panels (4.5 meters total).

My main fear is that mastic/silicone/whatever sealant that they used... It shrivelled a bit so it's lifted off the lead - but it's damn solidly stuck on the brick.

Has anyone ever removed that stuff?

I am thinking to open it up with a Stanley knife and pull it out, using the knife to separate as much as I can between the sealant and the brick and then use a diamond mortar raking bit on my angle grinder for leftovers.

I reckon once I clear out the chase it's pretty straightforward to install the flashing back in (beat it into shape, Hall clips and put new sealant).
It's that initial mass removal that I have a bad feeling about - like I would be stuck there for a whole day and barely get a few feet!

Any advice/encouragement appreciated.
Just been laid off and being quoted 600 and upwards for the job - it's a punch in the gut for me right now...

A sharp Stanley blade as you say and it should come out in long strips if it’s not bonded to the lead.
