Insulated roller garage door electric or manual

I think I want a manual one but everyone keeps reacting like I'm mad.

I am not going to drive a car in and out. I am going to regularly go in there to get my bicycle out. The single seater will live in there which will be pushed in and out periodically (a dozen or so times per year)

To my mind, a manual door will be faster for getting the bike in and out- and I won't need to have a blipper or mobile phone on me.

A manual door with a locking handle and key- Then I only need to put the key on my keyring, and I don't have to wait as it whirs around?

There isn't much of a cost saving going manual.

Depends on the size of the door, mine takes a lot of lifting manually.
And needs lifting right to the top or it just comes back down again.

Standard 7' single. Will be a Hormann or similar.

We have a roller shutter on our garage which is used for storing bikes and track car so probably similar use case. Much prefer that it's electric and it's definitely quicker than a manual. It's open by the time I get to the door - when leaving the house press the blipper when walking through the lounge and when returning from a ride blip it when I'm approaching the house and by the time I'm at the door it's open. The blipper is tiny and really not an inconvenience to take on a ride. If we had to replace it, there's no way I'd have a manual again (which we did at a previous house).

If youre talking about manually winding a roller shutter then not a chance. The gearing on the manual winder is incredibly low, you have to do loads of turns on the handle to get the door to move even a fraction. It takes an age to get the door open enough to even duck under. Pressing the button on the wall / fob / phone is much quicker.

I'm not. The ones I'm considering have a sprung 'counterweight' mechanism and you just lift them up.

I have a Hormann electric roller garage door and it is rather slow. However there's a remote button on the frame of my front door. I press that as I go out, and by the time I get to the garage it's open. To close, there's a button on the wall just inside the garage - press it as you leave. That way there's no need for blippers or mobile comms apparatus.

Have you got an alternative way into the garage if the electric fails? I wouldn't want an electric door as the only way in.

Similar situation here, car never goes in, only my bike. Replaced manual door a month ago with a Hormann electric. So much easier and quicker. I wouldn't go back.
