Re-roof costs : is this about right?

I have a detached bungalow - part pitched roof, part flat. The pitched roof section has a footprint of around 1300 sq feet and contains a cross-gabled section with 2 valleys.

I ve been quoted £15k to remove existing roof and replace with new tiles, felt and batons, two new code 4 lead valleys and re-lead the chimney in code 4.

There s also 3 Velux to remove and re-install as well.

Edit to add : tiles are concrete as per existing.

This is in a village on the edge of York.

The guy comes recommended so I know I ll get a good job done.

Just checking that the price seems reasonable.

No idea on price I'm afraid, but could be worth looking at getting solar at the same time - not much more expensive and will at least give you a return through lower energy bills in the long-run.

Agreed certainly in the ball park, normal process is to get 3 quotes, look at price then confidence in the tradesman

Got another quote this morning at £13k + VAT so not too dissimilar.

Not going solar as potentially moving in the next 5 years.

The solar panels are not much more expensive than the tiles you won’t have to buy if you go for in roof panels

This. I haven't got solar on mine because I'll likely move before I see the return, but if I was re-roofing anyway, I'd definitely look into it for the marginal cost of install and reckon I'd see the value back in the increase in house value/EPC.

What are these marginal costs? From my limited online searching it would appear to be at least £6-8k
