What bulb is this?

I ahve this in my hallway, presume it is some kind of eco device, cannot find much about it anywhere.

Looks like a compact fluorescent fitting, can't say I have seen 6 pins like that before though.

My google-fu ... I know nothing but might help.

Compact fluorescent bulbs, introduced for 2004 Part L building regs. Most common were 2 and 4 pin but, like yours, some proprietary versions were 6 pin. You might be lucky and find the shroud pops off and it's actually 2 or 4 pin underneath.

Manufacturing of fluorescent bulbs was banned in UK in 2024. So your best bet is going to be replace the whole thing anyway so you can use modern (and more available) bulbs.

Makes sense big, house is a shared ownership built in 04/05 so built with that in mind would be a fitting like that.

Any idea what bulb is needed? Had no luck finding anything.

Sadly no, I just tried it, it just removes the shade. AM not really qualified to mess about too much so would like to simple know if a bulb is available,

And both of those are 2 and 4 pin. Not 6, which is OP's predicament.

Throw it away and replace with a regular bayonet fitting and use a LED bulb of your choice. It's a government sanctioned landlord special intended to use a low energy lightbulb in communal areas.

The image you've found is also replicated on this thread on the Screwfix site from a few years ago. A 4 pin bulb unit such as G24q-2 would fit - but chuck the whole lot away.

I am so relieved. AI is not going to take over the world and destroy the human race using killer robots. It will make all the components and get the number of connector pins wrong, rendering them useless.

I think you'll find that the 6 pin G24 base will accept both 2 and 4 pin bulbs

Just to make sure AI dont go rogue it is the downstairs hall light, not the landing, in case I end up buying something even more obscure, AI only works with the facts you feed it and I am sure landing and hall are easily confused
