Patio perimeter inlaid LED lighting - recommendations?

I'm in the process of getting quotes for landscaping and one of the things I'm planning is to have warm white LED lighting around the perimeter of the patio areas and along the path that will join them.

As it'll be sealed in (to make it waterproof!) I'm happy to get good quality that should hopefully last and I'm wondering if anyone here can recommend any particular manufacturers or suppliers (or who is a supplier?). Ideally I'd like it smart-controlled so it can be scheduled or controlled with an assistant (for now I'm using Google) and ideally dimmable too. Just looking for some advice and recommendations if anyone has done similar?

You can buy the housing, strips and drivers from different places to get exactly the combination you want, and maybe at a better price than as a bundle.

Weak points for me have been drivers and the diffuser covers, so you need to allow for somewhere to put the driver(s) and ideally get some spare diffuser while you can.

The LED strip will have lots of available options so that can be a real rabbit hole. Sometimes it's just the strip that's actually waterproof and the rest isn't truly sealed.

You ought to assume it will fail, eventually, so needs to be accessible for replacement. To ensure best longevity, use an aluminium track for the tape (helps with heat diffusion, greatly improves life) with a light diffusing cover (which prevents the “spot” effects of the LED strip). Then use a branded IP-rated LED strip, like 3M. Finally ensure water doesn’t have an easy route into the installation.

The tape takes a thin low voltage cable so that will need to be protected for its run from the transformer.

There are lots of automation options, depends what level of integration/control you want really. I used LightwaveRF but that’s at the pricier end of the market and it was part of a much bigger installation.

You really want the ones that cycle through different colours for the full council effect

Look at Phillips Hue ... certainly you have the SMART control and colour variation .. the length will be a problem... I have a strip on my pond

They will ALWAYS fail, so make it easy to repair and replace. They may last 2 years or 10 years, depending upon how exposed they are, but they will always fail...
