Am not overly keen on totally redecorating a room, and I also have to do a hall and landing which is very daunting.

As a start, are there any decent paint match apps or anything similar that could give me an idea of what paint colours are on walls now?

Or is it simply redecorate to cover it all the best option

Some paint fades quite a lot so you may struggle to match it.

It's allowed to not have all the walls the same!

Paint one wall a different colour and put a picture on it or something.

If you want to match pint, you can get strips of colour series from paint sellers, different tones of e.g. blueish green.
B&Q do them for Valspar paint, but that IME is bad for fading.
A Dulux decorator centre might be a better bet.

No not really. If possible you could chip a bit off and take it to B&Q as their Valspar gives a decent match.

Dulux visuliser app for your phone can identify paint colours.

For various reasons you need eyeballs not apps. Go to B&Q etc and collect colour swatches that you think are appropriate. Take them home, offer them up to the wall in both daylight and artificial light and then you can decide which one is closest, or the one that you prefer.

If you’re able to get a sample off, Dulux Decorator Centres can scan colours to give a paint match.

All colour matching apps are rubbish, even the trade centre ones. Ive got a Dulux trade swatch with around 2000 shades of colours and that used to work better.

We did this for my MILs place, blended into the corners it was fine.

I kind of expected this, so it is likely to mean I have to paint it all! Not every room thankfully.

I had a similar issue so managed to get a sample and took it to my local Johnstones decorator centre where they matched it perfectly

If you can't get a sample to scan then you will struggle really.

No sample and I cant really see the point in cutting a wall up to try, the last owners left enough bloody holes everywhere hence the reason to repaint.

Was just a query based on desperation really I already pretty much knew the answer!!

Go to a Johnstones DC. They’ll colour match to anything you want. Get it mixed in Perfect Matt for the walls / ceiling and Aqua Guard for the woodwork. Thank me later.

You'd be surprised how close you'll get with a colour swatch. If it doesn't work what have you lost? Just continue on the remaining walls.
