I'm 50% here for the tools, 50% here for whatever Harry does next
Hah!!
Gone back to work now, so probably slightly less ambitious projects. Maybe.
Lights!
On topic, automatic wire strippers. Game changer.

In the new thread with this, now I've actually used it...

I had a cheap vac pump from amazon already for a project with the boy where we laminated up a custom skateboard. Few fittings and hose, and it's insanely good.
Chamfered some drawer fronts with the router - the larger drawer fronts were actual effort to remove from the worktop even after the pump was switched off...
Amazing.

Thought I'd check in to the new thread with a potentially really basic question - our strimmer has run out of wire. Is it worth just getting the generic stuff or is there some sort of upgrade we can get?
It's a Bosch Easy trimmer from about 5 years ago.
I've had mixed results with the funky star cross-section line, it does seem to work better a lot of the time. It's a Bosch Easy trimmer from about 5 years ago.
But then I bought a spare line holder pre-loaded with round line and found I was getting through a lot less line.
The star stuff can jam in the holder.
A metal blade is an option.
A short length of stainless wire rope is another option.
If it's taken 5 years to get through the original bit of line, then I'd suggest getting the same. I can use a spool of line to a tank of petrol in about 45 minutes.
Also the line can get brittle in time.

I find that if I m going to do a lot of strimming, chucking the reel in a bucket of water the night before helps make the string last a lot longer. Something to do with flexibility and therefore able to take more impacts before breaking. I m using Stihl 2.4mm string in a petrol strimmer so ymmv. Otherwise I m using a spool or more per tank of petrol.
Thanks! I'll try that.I think the line is nylon, which does absorb water.

It is getting to the time of year where people ask me to drop hints for what I want... What are the <£50 tools that you wish you bought sooner?
Tracer or similar construction pencil with holster to clip onto my work trousers. My lugs have never been the right shape to firmly hold a standard pencil. So I was always searching for one when needed. The Milwaukee folding stanley knives are very nice.
I'm also a huge fan of these for measuring stuff, rather than having to deal with the curve of where the tape measure meets the side of what you're measuring:

This intrigues me, are the foam gasket things permanently attached or do you just use when you need?https://benchdogs.co.uk/products/vacudog?srsltid=A...
