I've got a cupboard with a plug socket in it (normal single socket).
There is an LED strip light plugged into said socket. So currently you turn the light on and off by operating the switch on the socket.
Is it possible to swap the socket over for some sort of fused switch? I'm thinking maybe a shower pull-cord? Or is that a complete no-no in the electrickery world.

Sounds like you want to replace the socket with a switched fused spur and reterminate the LED strip light wiring into the spur, seemingly. If the transformer is in with the plug this obviously won't be possible.

I’d leave the socket on and fit an inline switch on the cable to the leds.
