Decorated 3 year olds bedroom - full Lightning McQueen colours biggrin I won the war with the radiator paint but lost a few battles so there is some blue satin paint on the carpet. Actually, there is quite a bit and Mrs Maul is not happy. Am hiring a carpet cleaner at weekend to do whole house as its generally a bit shabby, but is there any good sure fire way of removing the splodges without leaving a mess? Diluted turps subsitute maybe?

Thanks in advance as I wont be able to reply quickly as in meetings all day

I'd have thought the only chance is to gently dab away with some white spirit on a clean cloth.

If all else fails:

Can't you just paint the rest of the carpet?

WD40. Takes a while but eliminates it totally.

Spray. Rub with fingers or cloth. Dab with soapy cloth. You'll see the soapy water turning paint coloured. Keep repeating until gone. Took me two hours for enormous paint spill that had been left to dry for months.

"Shave" the painted bit of carpet with a razor blade.

If you overdo it, shave a bit under the bed and take the fluff you end up with to the original bald patch and superglue it on.

Simply remove the carpet completely but save 2 pieces to stick to everyones feet in your household. Job done.

Awesome thanks, never knew wd40 had so many uses. As a kid, my mate and I sprayed some into the back of a hairdryer when it was running... hey presto - home made flame thrower!

Yep, its brilliant. My carpet was so bad that it was worth trying anything. Used up a whole can, but like I said, it was a big puddle sized spill thumbup

Apparently they reckon you can use it as a light oil too!
