Looking at a house built around 1900, and one of the stone sub sills at ground floor level needs to be cut out and replaced (approx 3ft). Another ground floor level one needs to be patched.

Does anyone have a rough idea what kind of cost I am looking at here - is it hundreds, or more likely thousands ?

Lots if you're looking for a new one, much cheaper (but you'll spend a long time searching) if you can find a reclaimed one.

Ah yes sorry, I meant a window sill.

I was afraid that it might not be cheap, any recommendations on where to get a new one or find a reclaimed one much appreciated.

Maybe I should break out the hammer and chisel from my childhood stone collecting days ...

does the window need removing?

I don't think so. I think it's possible to cut it out and replace it without removing the window. In fact it's in such poor condition, it might just fall out ...

Forticrete make the recon ones, they have several standard designs/sizes, and can make bespoke if you want.

We also have a subsidiary department that make them.

A decent local Builders Merchant should be able to help you. Although, we've got a lorry in London today and another tomorrow because our customers want materials. Read that as you wish.
