You don't wanna see mine.

3.5 acres of field grass (now had it's first cut of the year) with trees. 2.5 acres of 45-degree ground with rough grass, meadow flowers, lots of trees, a stream and 2 ponds. It's a fking mess!

The big triangular bit in the middle is mine with the C-shaped steading and the croft in front of it.

Ermmm I have pics of the garden when we bought the house but well, erm, we haven't done much to it ..... other than the implementation of a wild flower meadow.

The positioning of the bowl of food does look like it is asking for an accident!

The gardens of the place we rented last year before we moved into our new place were very nicely landscaped. I dread to think how much it cost the original owners to have done. Mum took some pictures for inspiration and ideas:

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Not too many just showing grass. Most of the pics have cars in them as well.
There is 5 acres of it in total so after a while it just looks green smile

Chopped the big tree down to open it up a bit

or white smile

Very nice Renmure, I love it. We recently moved to a new place, and the garden setup is not dissimilar to yours so you've given us some ideas. The garden's been neglected for years, but luckily we have a team of six gardners who come every week and do a couple of hours for absolutely free. They do our gardening in exchange for allowing them to come on the land and shoot rabbits. Convenient, as there's no way we could afford a team of six gardeners each week otherwise.

Especially like your snow pic - in fact the only ones I have of our new place is in the snow, and as you can see from the tree line on the left, we've got a way to go until it looks as good as yours:

Looks like lots of potential smile
6 gardeners sounds like a nice luxury. I have another area about 3/4 of an acre which formed my driveway and was flattish but totally overgrown with weeds, dead bits of tree, moss, boggy grasses, bits of rubble etc. It looked like the sort of waste ground you might find near a dump frown

Fortunately my farmer friend was able to pop in one morning with 2 diggers and 2 tractors. A couple of hours later and the area had been cleared, turned over, ploughed, leveled, rolled and passed over with the seeding machine. Was impressive stuff.

This was it the following year after the 1st cut of grass. Fruit tree orchard starting to get established too. smile Should probably take a pic since its fairly productive now after 8 years

You've pretty much described our front garden when we moved in last year. A combination of chainsaws, industrial strimmers and heaven knows how many man hours has got it looking reasonable, but there's more to be done.

Funny you should mention orchards - mother's scheme is to get one planted in the paddock next to the house and then turn it into an area which serves summer tea to walkers on The Ridgeway path, which the paddock borders. Would be interesting to see how yours is getting on after eight years.

These are from 2 years ago, so things were doing well. There are far more apples produced than I can ever eat. I tend to grab one or two every time I cut the grass. There are some cherry and pear trees in there too which have done surprisingly well, although the birds get the cherries before I do!! smile

My rear garden is a small triangular plot,I wanted something that was very low maintenance that had a bit of colour all year round.
