Have got one of those rangemasters with a glass type or ceramic top - I have no idea what it actually is. Looks shiny and lights up red when ring turned on.
Anyway major spillage - cleaned most off with hobbrite for ceramic hobs but there is a bit of grot left that won't come off with hot water, ecloth or anything else

Yep, a razor blade for £7.82. Good old Lakeland! I wonder if they sell a hygienic plastic rest to put it on when not in use? Stores easily in a drawer etc...

I used a plasplugs window scraper which takes a stanley-knife type blade. Was about £2 from a DIY store IIRC.

Wire wool, works a treat. Also use it on my glass oven door. Takes off all the baked on debris, then just a wipe with a damp cloth.

yikes I do seriously hope not, once might be ok, twice is risky any more than that and you'd scuff it so much!!

Nope, wire wool works just fine, done it lots of times, it does not scratch the glass.
