I want to replace my garden floor with new paving blocks (plain grey cheap ones).

The total area is 31m squared and its shaped like an L.

Anyone know what sort of price I should be paying for this? I had a guy come around earlier and quote me 2k. He did seem like he would do a through job though with the base.

I wouldn't mind having a go myself, I would need a couple of tools though which would be a pain to hire.

Anyone tried this themselves?

Its only in my backgarden so I can spend as logn as I want on it.

Am sure M3Jappa will be along shortly to give you a thorough reply.

I had 150m2 done a while back. The advice seemed pretty much the same throughout. Get the prep right.

A good quality base for the blocks is key. This means digging down, 4 or 6 inches of compacted Type 1 limestone followed by screeded limestone dust which you lay the blocks on.

Having seen it done professionally I would no be happy having a go myself on a smaller personal project.

Its like most things, get the prep right and the result should be good.
