A couple of years ago we had the front "garden" paved with those fancy little pinkish cobblestoneish things and ever since then the garage has filled up with water whenever it rains hard because the drainage was inadequate despite Mick's (really) insisting that all would be OK. This was during the last very dry summer so it took a while to discover this. From that point on, the garage floor has started to break up and I can no longer leave anything on the floor for fear of it being water damaged and the damp was soaking up the brickwork too. Needless to say, getting into the car was an chore as well.

So, today the builders came to improve the drainage by fitting a section of 75mm pipe rather than 25mm which runs straight into the nearby drain. Good move. They also laid a new concrete screed, raising the floor by two inches which, in combination with the new bit of pipe, should sort out the rainwater problem.

But the silly sods didn't think to check how the door fits so now the door doesn't shut properly and doesn't fckunig lock. tts, the lot of them.

Now they've raised the floor two inches, all they need to do is raise the rest of the garage by the same amount.

I hope that they used a modified or strengthened screed or be prepared for cracking.

hehe That's not drainage - this is what should have been used in front of the garage -->
