I have a terrace on the back of my house that is bordered on three sides by walls and I am thinking about a glass vernada. The house is a bit of a "bitsa" being Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and more recent.

I'm thinking of something like this:

I'd also consider something very modern - the sort of glass and steel stuff that has Kevin McCloud off Grand Designs going weak at the knees and talking about "elegant counterpoint of modernity and the original fabric of the building" and "the structure's relationship to the environment".

  • Has anyone had any experience with any of the firms that do this stuff?
  • Any experiences of using this type of space?
  • Any suggestions as to features?
  • Any pics of projects that you care to share to inspire me?
Ta.

That's one very posh smoking shelter.

Actually, I don't think I'll let my mother (the only smoker who regularly visits) smoke there otherwise our terrace will be littered with butts.

I think we'll have a table a chairs under it. Alfresco dining until late into the evening.
