What to do about the house next door...
Discussion
Ok, so here's the situation...
The grass etc in the garden next door is now around 8 foot tall.
The front door has been smashed in, and boarded up, within the space of a day.
Then last night, we saw a c.8" rat running across our garden from next door's garden!
The bloke who owns the place doesn't appear to have lived there for at least 7 years from what we've been told (for the past 1.5 years we've lived here, there is still the same bowl of cereal, washing up, etc out in the kitchen!)
So, I've told the police, who don't want to do anything about it.
I've also told environmental health, who say they will kindly lay some rat traps in our garden for a fee. Cheers!
So, where do we go from here? It's a privately owned house, which is why the council are steering away from it I suppose.

8' grass? In the UK?
Burning it down is one idea; probably not if you're semi-detached though
Sure the owner isn't in there? Choked to death on a crunchy nut cornflake one morning?
Otherwise I agree with Sleep - mow the lawn, 50 litres of magnolia and rent it out until someone says you can't. If the property looks smart, highly unlikely anyone will ever question anything.
Oh yeah - take rent in CASH only.
