I've got a wonderful, comfortable 'star treky' type armcahair ...that I recollect was called Pegasus from Courts.... I bought about 7 years ago.
The back end has now collapsed....no amount of cushions/ padding is going to fix things.
2 options, one is just to cut away at the fabric to reach the frame and correct it that way. DIY option...obviously smile
The other is to get an upholster in to do it more neatly smile
I'm most inclined to get an upholsterer in ....but not too sure as to how I get one...and what the quotes might be....and there's still a mallet and nails about my house, that I feel tempted to diy.

I spent most of this morning carefully removing staples from the base and cutting the side beading.
I eventually managed to gain access from bottom of chair and also the back end....from investigations, it's a hopeless case.
It seems there's a lot of 'lost' nuts and bolts...as in there's a lot of holes...with nothing in them. I can see that the LHS support bracket has sheared off... but with so little to work with....tis a new armchair that's needed.
I've stuck a wooden 'Bordeaux box' type crate to support the seat area...but it throws me forward....will have a go at sawing it to fit....but only answer is new armchair.

Wonder if Araldite can help glue things back together?

Unfortunately not biggrin
It was a recliner...but it's had it's day.
It will venture off to armchair heaven...and I get to spend ages choosing a new one...with the idea that the company will go bust before they can deliver...so , not the best time to be buying.
....and I don't want 2nd hand either.

Spent most of the afternoon looking at recliners, eventually decided on a power recliner which is arriving tomorrow. Must admit the decision was based on when it could be delivered -store sample greatly reduced, man in a van for £25 cash. He'll pick it up when store opens at 1000 and at the latest will be in situ by 1045 tomorrow morning.
It's likely a short-term purchase but I can't wait the 8-12 week delivery times quoted for a brand new chair.
Now I have to make a decision re the old chair...do I saw it up and stick it in the wheelie bin...or do I pay the council £30 to collect it and have it sitting outside my house like a pikey until they do scratchchin

Thanks for the offer Tampon smile the new one arrived this morning and is now in situ...and the old one is about to be chopped up. Familiarity with it hadn't made me realise how tired it was looking...especially as I'd part butchered it to try and fix it biggrin

Fair dos, nothing like a new one to make you realise the old stuff is crap.
