I've just been asked this question. Old lady died at the beginning of the year and her house is now empty and up for sale. However the insurance has ended and the executors haven't been able to get insurance.

I don't know where they've looked, but surely it must be possible to get insurance?

Can anyone give me a pointer for them?

Cheers.

We had problems when renovating an old house, finally got some but only for a limited period(3 months).

The policy stipulated that the electricity and water had to be swithed off whilst nobody was in or working on the house, but also that the alarm system and central heating must be left on,no one at the insurance company could explain how to make the alarm and heating work without electricity.

Definitely possible as I have insured properties that I have been in the process of renovating whilst uninhabited.

Try a local high street broker, much more personal service and they will be happy to sit and talk through the options with you and actually be interested in finding a policy that works for you.

Beware though as has been stated above cover will be very limited with quite a few silly stipulations but worth having non the less.

Thanks. I think they've spoken to a couple of high street brokers without joy. But I'll tell them to try others.

One of the executors lives in the next street so it isnt as if its never checked or anything.
