Apparently I need a 'Flame Detector' for my oil fired boiler, my local 'expert' told me to go on the plumb centre website and order one but I cant even find such a thing!
Any ideas guys?

I'd suggest you try and get a good local boiler man in and give it a service. They usually change those things at the same time, well our does anyway. It's just a photo-electric thingy.

Sounds like the photocell. Try taking the photocell out and clean the "magic eye", they sometimes get sooted up.

If you need a new one, go to a "Parts Centre" same group as Plumb Centre. Pretty easy to fit.

Is the boiler actually firing up? Or firing then cutting out?

It isnt firing up mate, the lad who looked at it put his own spare photocell in until I get another one. Thing is though, he works offshore so I wont see him for another 3 months! I have spoken to my local plumber and he has ordered me one so hopefully I will have it for the weekend. Will I be able to put it in myself easily enough?
