decorating pricing

How do decorators price their jobs, painting in particular, is it by the metre?
Just curious as to what sort of prices I should expect.
I know it's going to differ from area to area, but just a "ball park" figure would help.

Roughly £125-£150 a day plus the cost of the paint/materials etc.

I've just had my place done and this is about right. Some were looking for £200+, but they were trying to abuse the fact I wanted it done quickly.

I think me and Plotloss live in the same area, so thats only 1 view really
