Need a new fridge-freezer, but...
Discussion
I'm looking for a new fridge-freezer, and I'd like it to be frost-free. Budget largely unimportant.
It can be up to 60cm wide and 60cm deep, but I'm limited on height - unless it's shorter than about 162cm, I'll have to start refangling the kitchen which I'd rather avoid.
I like Siemens but most of their range is 170cm high, apart from one which isn't frost-free, only 54cm wide and is a crazy £700. In fact it seems impossible to get a smaller unit that's frost-free - I imagine there's a technical reason for this?

Have a look at These FF's they are all under 160cm but you will have to check the other measurements and whether they are frost free..
Yes, I noticed that. Most of the stats say the same thing, regardless of whether it is or isn't frost free. I checked with another website (on one of the models that Comet say is frost free) and they also claimed it to be frost free. I guess it would be best to check with Comet directly, assuming they have a FF that would be suitable.
I used to have a frost free fridge/freezer, and found that it was more of a pain than a standard freezer. Every couple of months it needed defrosting anyway, and because the ice built up in the rear of the freezer it was an absolute paid in the arse job, which I hated doing. Perhaps not all FF models/makes are the same, but I dont see the benefit personally.
I have an under-counter fridge which is frost-free and does what it says on the tin. The freezer lives out in the utility room but is not frost-free; no bother though, as when it needs defrosting, I just drag it out onto the patio and turn the hose on it - job done in a couple of minutes!
My neighbour had one of the American style FF delivered a few weeks ago. Can't remember the name of the company, but was one of the big retailers - they came armed with battery operated drill/drivers and took the doors, etc, off the FF before even attempting to get it through the house door.
