Number 1 suspect? Neighbours!!
Discussion
Came home yesterday to find the large middle panel of our (solar glass)conservatory smashed!!
It's the left side of the roof, which is next to the neighbours garden.
The neighbours are new having moved in just a few weeks ago. Anyway, the garden next door is half wooden decked and half covered in decent sized 'beach' style stones!
The panel has shattered, and you can see the point of impact, which looks very much like a thrown stone.
With no evidence at all i still challenged the neighbours, to see of they knew anything about it? Surprise surprise....no, they do not, BUT, as i'm talking to this guy, his 3-4 year old son is throwing stones in the bottom of their garden!
I asked directly if they knew anything, as i suspected it was a stone?
Nope, total denial.
Grrr... I know there is nothing i can do, as i have zero evidence, i'm just bloody mad!
Whatever did hit it, is gone. I check to see if there was a stone in the gutter, which there wasn't, but our roof/gutter is only a couple of inches from their fence, so it could easily have just rolled/deflected back into their garden!
When i came home yesterday i was ranting & raving...all on my own for at least 30 minutes. I must have looked a right looney.
IF it was next door, and IF they did indeed know about it...it's bloody wrong & frustrating. Honesty just doesn't exist these days??
Apologies for the 'pointless' rant, it's just bloody annoying!

If it was a decent sized beach stone and all the energy had been taken out of it by shattering the glass, then surely it would still be in the vicinity?
I'd just got into in my car on the drive the other day and there was a very alarming loud crack as a stone hit the screen and left (luckily) more of a scuff than a chip. The only possible explanation is that a bird dropped it.

Uh, can you look for a stone that matches the ones in their garden under the smashed panel?
There is nothing, no stones or anything on the ground or in the gutter. As i said, the roof gutter is only a few inches from the top of their fence, so could very easily have rolled back down the now shatered pane back into their garden.
I know there is nothing i can do, as no evidence - i'm just f
king fuming that it has happened!
Time to install a camera. I don't want the replacement to go the same way!

That solar glass must be incredibly brittle for a 4 year old to smash it, I can't imaging the kid being able to throw anything above pebble sized. Are you sure it's not shattered because it was a bad fit in the frame.
Or maybe you new neighbours already dislike you..Edited by MrTom on Monday 6th July 11:45

Even for PH a little harshWhat you need is a brightly coloured 'trajectory stick' such as the ones seen in Columbo. Place it prominently in front of the smashed window with it pointing to the neighbours garden, (preferably at the correct angle for a four year old's height).
