I'm at work, would you go home ? 90% chance I left it on (I think), it's face down on the metal thingy at the end of the board that is designed to deal with the heat....but for how long ?

If I honestly thought i'd left the iron on, i'd go home and hope that home was still intact.

your house has already burnt down, so why worry.

Right, I think I'll go home then, I don't want to have to start a thread 'My house burnt down'.

Of course it's guaranteed not to be on now....

They don't catch fire on their own, and the chances of it falling over are very limited. I left one on for just short of 24 hours recently. Would, of course, been potentially disastrous if it had fallen over onto carpet/soft furnishings etc, but why would it just fall over?

You didn't leave it 'plate down' on something flammable did you? yikes

If I'd left it upright then I'd leave it, but if face down (even on something metal) I'd be off home ASAP.

You know I was wondering that, the wife talks at great length about "ironing" but I always switch off, could the two be related? biggrin

This stuff.

Useful for making steel.

Can't think of anything else it might be.

I left mine on all day once, and face down. Nice hole in the cover. The whole metal frame was red hot.
