Conifers-wood burning
Discussion
I am about to reduce in height some conifer trees, and whilst not having a wood burning stove, I do have an open fire place. So something tells me that one can not burn in a wood burning stove wood from conifer trees, due to the oily type content of the wood, does the same also apply to an open style fire?
I asked a similar question recently of a wood burning stoves supplier as we have some lelandii to come down, and he reckoned that as long as the wood can be left to season for long enough, then it is ok to burn.

When conifers/leyland cypress is thoroughly seasoned it is a perfectly respectable firewood.
If its not properly seasoned it will smolder, spit, smoke and act fire-resistant. The chemicals and resins within will also clog up your chimney liner.
If its seasoned properly it burns fast and bright.
