Grrrrrr.

I just knew this would happen.

Visited one of their stores, selected carpet and was told it was called XYZ variety in a colour called 'beige'.....at the time me and the missus said that was a daft name as the ccarpet was nearer to gold.

Went back to pay for said carpet prior to fitting. The chap who finalised the order/delivery tells me there isn't a colour 'beige' in the carpet line selected....

'ok' says me, 'to avoid any doubt we should got and see the carpet rolls, and we can double check what I want'

So off we go, I select the same 'gold' roll again and he tells me the adjacent roll is the 'beige' one. 'Fine' says me, 'I want the gold carpet not that stty brown beige one' (whilst pointing at the roll I wanted and then the roll I specifically DIDN'T want)

Unfortunately I had work commitments today when the fitting was going to take place so I gave the keys to my dad for them to have access. Dad took one look at he carpet and knew it wasn't what I wanted. Carpet fitters then phone salesroom and they confirm that the carpet delivered was what was ordered. So it gets fitted.

The stty brown one rolleyes

Anybody in southern Bristol may well witness a mushroom cloud above carpet right (or wrong as the case maybe) at some stage tomorrow morning.

All carpet samples have a colour on them, either a number or some glowing description such as 'Harvest Mist'. Did your sample not have any ID?

No sample, just the roll...and no reference number on that either. Hence the confusion I guess.

I just rang dad (who has the original paperwork) and it says 'beige'..having thought back about it, when I paid the money the salesman questioned 'beige' as the stock list didn't have a beige reference; which was why I insisted we re-visit the rolls to clarify the goldy/cream colour rolleyes

So now I have two bedrooms with white ceilings and cream walls with brown carpets.

Nice.

Some ear chewing will be done tomorrow methinks.

Well, depending on what's in writing, you could ask them to take away the beige one and fit the gold one. In hindsight your father should have turned them away and not been so trusting!

So how DO they determine colour in this strange shop?

Yeh yeah,

The missus said gold (as in not brown)....lets call the carpet requested as a colour to match the laminate floor in the rooms adjacent....which is maple.

Ie not bloody chocolate brownish lol.
