Fantastic, that must be so exciting/frustrating/stressful/amazing (all at the same time!) watching your own house being built. I remember a few years ago reading a blog from someone on here about their house build, are you doing one yourself?

I keep seeing some really nasty 60's and 70's architecture round my way which would really lend itself to a modern conversion like this.

I do like it over the old look. But something about having the door in the glass wall looks like an office to me. Now it'd be a very smart office. And I'm damned if I'd have a better idea where to put the door. Anyway. As others have said it looks LOTS better.

good points about the windows, however it balances out when you see the whole lot. equally, ive also thought about the "office block" look, but in the context of where it is ( surrounded by high trees) the reason we went for the double height glass at the front was to see the tress and the church oposite. It works better when you se it in context. Ive got more before and afters and im gald to see the positive responses so far as its been a massive ballache so far and the postive comments help to reaffirm why we are doing it.

from the bit above the glass we have bult a roof terrace with hot tub which looks out over Bristol ( we are up near the suspension bridge) the view of the front is this church

personally I loved them, ( a bit of 70s retro kitsch!) but the mrs said no and sadly they are no longer. this is the sauna during the build. I insisted on keeping it and we ended up rebuilding the whole hosue around it! Might go some way to explaining the cost!

finally, finished......phew....











..although now its finished, we've decided to sell and get something a bit smaller! its been a labour of love though, although im never putting myself through it again!
