We want something contemporary - we like some of the bathstore crap but have read too much about it falling apart after one year etc. As 2/3rd of the cost is labour we really need something good. Ideas please!

grahams builders merchants seem to have some nice stuff and can get some nice stuff too.

Where you located? Some local plumbers and builders merchants have very nice showrooms

Please, for the love of all that is decent, DON'T go for Bathstore.

Name-and-shame rules on here prevent me from giving detail, but our story of woe is far from the only one.

Browse Yellow Pages for a large, probably out of town bathroom stores. Book a day to tour them - first run is to suss them out and look for products/ideas. Then go back with a design in mind for final decisions and discussion.

For steel baths, look for Bette and Kaldewei. Grohe do good taps & fittings

Thanks for the tips, CP Hart are on the case although the first shower screen i chose was over £8K - which is our entire budget!

To be honest Ideal Standard do some decent stuff as well which should be available pretty much anywhere. Think the better stuff is in its own catalogue but can't remember the name.

CP Hart never botherd to call back the last time despite me emailing my requirements and budget (£10K). Maybe that just wasn't enough for them! We've now chosen ideal standards IMAGINE range. Very nice it looks too!

No.

Funnily enough we're having someone come tonight to look at renewing our bathroom, starting off by taking it back to 4 bare walls.

We've found him by seeing which local firms are doing a lot of jobs and picking one that has been invited for repeat work by several people.

Fingers crossed. Hope he is better than the one that did the other bathroom.

Oli.
They do actually. The problem is this; let's say there's just 10 manufacturers to choose from, each of those 10 have at least 10 different ranges so there's 100 choices, not all varying greatly in price but few companies publish the price range. Then once you've chosen the manufacturer (quality), the range that fits within the space constraints that you like the look of and also price constraints you then discover it's a 3 month delivery time or not available from a supplier in my area!

It's a minefield.

We did spend a lot of time looking at duravit, very nice stuff, not readily available :S

Perhaps there are other people reading the thread looking for inspiration, maybe the OP would see subsequent suggestions and find something more suitable or better priced.

Sorry I came late to the thread, Nice productive post tho, Thanks.
