Central Heating Controller Failed (and a pregnant wife!)
Discussion
My central heating is dead and I ASSUME it is the controller as there is no life in it - backlight is still on but no digits displayed and buttons do nothing. Old Potterton boiler but serviced fairly regularly. Working this morning, dead now.
Controller is an acl Lifestyle LP241. Googling shows Screwfix stock it although the model shown is more modern than mine. I am working tomorrow and Saturday but can have a go at swapping it on Sunday.
Is it straightforward? Carefully disassemble old one and wire up replacement identically?
Anything else I should know?
Yours in expectant gratitude . . . .

Most Timers are stright plug in type swop over, just carried out a Horstman Gear 425 timer link to manual of yours here, also check to see if your timer has battery, some do, and just check electrics. I used screwfix for mine £29.95 all done, check no lock ins, so read manual

Even new ones are only a two wire jobbie usually. Ours was a bit messed up as the previous 'expert' had done some odd stuff to power it, but basically it is an on/off switch for your heating. Our basic 20 year old timer, in the airing cupboard, is left turned to 'on' in the main timer, and the fancy new controller does all the thermostating and timing now.
<I would try the 'reset' option first. It involves pressing two of the buttons under the flap at the bottom together, but I can't remember which ones.>
No reaction to any combination of buttons I'm afraid.
Assuming it is not power supply issue as backlight still functions on the display (only thing that does!).
