Granite fireplace backplate and hearth

What is the best option for fixing this crap to the wall/floor? They are pretty substantial pieces of granite too!

Last house had a granite back plate, it was silconed to the wall with high temp stuff but the surround actually held it in place. Hearth just sat there, it never bloody moved no matter how my times I kicked the fking thing.

Looking at it,you're right, the surround does hold it in place.I'll no more nails it also,just so it feels like I've done something.And you are also right about the hearth...weighs a funking ton.
Can't be bothered now anyway,she can wait until tomorrow,beer drinking has commenced.Serves her right for surprising me with a 'job' to do on a Friday afternoon!
