Sorry to ask: Tumble Dryers - where from..? (A rated)
Discussion
My copy of Which? magazine arrived on Friday and it has a tumble dryer test. Does she want vented or condenser? Does she have a big family? Whats her budget?
Which recommends an £810 Bosch (72% rating) but the Bosch WTV74308GB got 70% and is "only" £350 - its a C rating, or there is a John Lewis JLTDC09 condenser with a B rating at £399 but only the Siemens WT46W560GB is A rated, £849 though.
We've got a gas tumble dryer, its a faff to get it plumbed in but they're very cheap to run and dry very quickly.

Blimey - that's timing!

There is only her at home now, however, she does an extraordinary large amount of washing (often for other people) and is simply not home enough to put it out on the line, so she uses the drier a lot. Her's recently went u/s and she can't afford a new one. So that is why i want to get her one - i want the most energy efficient because she uses it such a lot, she might as well get an economical one. So I'd prefer A unless there is a B that can near match it...
I heard about gas dryers, but I think she'd be nervous about the gas connection (we've been around this loop before). Vent or condenser is no probs, it seems from my limited research though that the condenser type are generally more efficient. Correct me if I'm wrong...

From my research (bought one last week), it's the other way round. You only buy a condenser if for any reason you can't vent through an outside wall to get rid of the steam that way.
The other thing with the condensing ones is that you have to keep emptying out the water it condenses.
For the record, and trying to avoid naming & shaming, don't get one from any German power tool manufacturers based in Stuttgart! They were the supplier of the ones we just had to replace, which died for the third and final time after less than 4 years.
We got a Miele to replace it, which so far seems very good, but then we've only had it 2 weeks!

Follow the link to a heat pump clothes dryer - there is also a Miele T8627 wp which is listed in Oz.....at around AU$3000In the long run a heat pump clothes dryer will use the least amount of energy, if the cost is too much then go for a condenser type.
