Washing machine plumbing...
Discussion
Me and my girlfriend have just bought our first place together, exciting times, lots to do!
One of today's tasks is getting the washing machine in. I'm hoping it's as simple as it seems on first inspection: screw hoses to water supply, push fit outlet hose to drainage pipe, plug in, done.
Question is this: is the press fit enough for the outlet? I ask because there's a jubilee clip in the box, but no mention of what it's for. So, to clip or not? Over to you PH.

My first place was a first floor apartment which came turnkey with all appliances. I put the washing machine on before heading away for the weekend. Came back on Sunday night to find the front door off the hinges and a letter from the fire brigade.
Turned out that when the builder fitted the washing machine they never plumbed the waste, which duely flooded into the apartment below...
So, moral is - run a test wash before putting the machine away!

The Jubilee clip is probably for if the drain pipe connects to the sink drain with a press fit. If you have the traditional washing machine waste pipe (hose goes down a tall waste pipe with a U-bend at the bottom) it's not needed - just shove the hose down the pipe far enough that it won't dislodge. If you have the press fit arrangement, use the clip
